When should I book my wedding cake?
My busiest months of the year are, May, June, July, August and September. Therefore, if your wedding date falls in any of these months, and you definately would like me to make your wedding cake, It would be advisable to reserve the date as soon as possible, to avoid disappointment. Nowadays, many brides book as early as a year or so in advance! I can only create a certain number of wedding cakes each month, so even if you havn't decided on the design yet, but definately want me to make the cake, a deposit of £100 will secure your date. With the other months of the year, four to six months in advance should be fine.
Where do I start, I've never done anything like this before...
This maybe your first time planning a wedding, and obviously you may not know how to go about looking for a wedding cake, let alone ordering one! So lets start with having a look at photos on the internet, magazines, etc. Maybe go along to a few wedding fayres, to get an idea of all the wonderful wedding cakes around! Here are a few things to look at, and have a think of which things you like.....
a) shape of the cake.....round, square, heart, etc
b) stacked on top of each other, or separated by pillars, etc.
c) what sort of cake flavours would you like...rich dark fruit, vanilla sponge, rich chocolate, carrot or lemon? You could always opt for a mixture!
d) colour of the icing...maybe you would like to have the icing matching the colour of your wedding dress. Although traditionally white was always the main colour of the cake, nowadays any colour goes! So how about being a little different and choose a bright colour, or a mainly white or ivory cake with one tier a different colour, the choice is endless. Also do you want the colour scheme to match in with everything els, i.e. bridesmaid dresses, room decor, etc. ....
e) the size of the cake is another thing to think about. Do you want to feed all your guests? Guests at the wedding breakfast and the evening guests, or just the ones at the wedding breakfast? Or is it more for show, than feeding everyone? You could have a 'kitchen cake' to give you more portions.
A kitchen cake is large rectangular/square cake, covered in the same coloured icing as your actual wedding cake, and left un-decorated. This can then be cut up and served with your actual wedding cake, with no-one knowing any different, and all guests recieve a slice! Please take a look at my 'portion sizes' page on the wedding cakes dropdown menu, this may help in deciding!
f) When you have found a few you like, either pop down to the centre where I am based, full time, (10-4pm Wed-Sunday), with some pictures, colour samples or anything else that you would like to be incorporated in your wedding cake, even a sketch that you have done...it doesn't have to be a masterpiece! If you can't get down to the centre, email, or facebook message the details, and any pictures/drawings that you have. Then we can go from there!
Can I pay in installments?
I understand that weddings can cost a fortune, so I don't mind if you want to spread the payments out to suit your own personal finances. I don't actually have an installment plan for the wedding cakes, but once you pay the deposit, you can then pay whenever you want to, and however much you want to, at a time, until the balance is paid in full. And the final outstanding payment, must be paid ONE MONTH before the collection/delivery date, of the wedding cake. Please note...I do not take credit/debit cards at the present time, but payments can be made by PayPal, cash or cheque.

How much will my wedding cake cost?
The price of your wedding cake can vary depending on the size of the cake, how many tiers, how deep the tiers are, how much detail is on the cake and the overall complexity of the design. If you click on the tab at the top of this page 'wedding cakes', you will see that all the wedding cakes shown, have the price next to them. I find it helps the customers know exactly what they will be paying for, so when they come to talk about their wedding cake, they do not feel worried about the price.. 'is it going to be way above our budget ?' or 'what if we can't afford it' scenario. I like to keep things as simple as possible, for myself and my customers.
If you like one of my designs, but would like to change a few things, for instance, the colour of the ribbons, or you want more detail added, maybe different types of flowers, etc, then that is no problem too!Maybe you have your own ideas or drawings, or you like the top of one wedding cake and the bottom tiers of another. Either way, I will be able to quote you a price, either there and then, or usually by the end of the day, so there is no waiting around!
If I had the wedding cake all vanilla sponge, would it be alright to stack each tier on top of one another, or would it collapse?
It is fine to have all sponge tiers in your wedding cake, as I use plastic dowels to support each tier, giving the perfect stability.

Do you offer delivery, and if so is there a charge?
Yes, on most occasions we offer delivery, but only to local venues. This also depends on workload, day of delivery, and time, too! A charge of £25 is applied for local delivery. Please feel free to ask, if we are available to deliver your wedding cake, on your particular day, and to your chosen venue.
Set up of your wedding cake will only be done, if the cake table is ready.
